One of the great joys in life that many of us take for granted is the ability to move every part of the body freely, without stiffness or pain. Maintaining good mobility may seem impossible for some, but chiropractic care can help. Here’s what you need to know.
Loss of Mobility
For many of our patients suffering from severe low back pain, they report sudden and severe pain when performing a simple task like bending over to tie their shoes or even sneezing! This type of lower back pain can happen to patients in their 30s just as quickly as it can to a patient in their 80s. The common factor here is a lack of joint mobility.
Maintain Mobility
A big part of maintaining a healthy body is developing a routine that focuses on strength, posture, balance, and mobility. Dr. Tracey Stiles can suggest specific stretches and exercises to keep muscles, tendons, and ligaments flexible and strong. Stretching can also help keep joints moving properly, and chiropractic can further those benefits.
For many of our patients suffering from lower back pain, the joint has become “locked up”, which decrease mobility to the point of immobility. That is no way to live, no matter what age you are! Most people link immobility to age, we’ve treated patients from all age groups and have to say if a person doesn’t keep up with regular exercises that involve stretches – even in their 30s – they will be more prone to loss of mobility than a person in their 70s who stretches regularly!
Chiropractic Care and Mobility
If the joints don’t move as they should, other parts of the body work to overcompensate. This puts a lot of stress on those areas, which often leads to inflammation and pain. When normal movement isn’t happening, the pain will only worsen as muscles in the area tighten up, causing ligaments and tendons to shorten and stick together.
The human body was made to move and if it isn’t moved, stretched, and exercised, it will only stiffen up eventually causing the slightest movements to lead to pain. At Stiles Chiropractic, we can help with returning the body to proper alignment and loosening the joints with regular chiropractic adjustments.
