Chiropractic Care: What To Expect

Your first two chiropractic visits will lay the foundation for the chiropractic care that you will receive at Stiles Chiropractic offices in Chicago. Please allow 30 minutes for each of these visits.

First Chiropractic Visit

On your first day you will start with a consultation with Dr. Tracey Stiles. During your consultation you will be asked what your chief complaint is, such as back pain, neck pain, knee pain, etc. Additionally you will go through a thorough health history, other care you have received, (chiropractic, physical therapy, or medical), your occupation, and other questions that may be needed to determine the nature of your condition, and the best course of treatment for that condition.

Next, Dr. Stiles will conduct a thorough chiropractic examination including orthopedic, neurological, physical, and spinal tests, with a specific focus on investigating the cause of your problem. Often times simply looking at your problem from a different perspective is enough to open new doors to understanding your body and to a faster recovery and true healing. Dr. Stiles will also answer any questions you have in regards to your health and evaluate whether or not you are a good candidate for chiropractic care.

If she feels she can help you, and you have selected to continue with chiropractic care, any follow up exams and any necessary x-rays will be performed. Before you leave, Dr. Stiles will give you some initial suggestions for home care to help relieve your pain. If we feel that we will be unable to help you, we will refer you to another doctor in Chicago.

Second Chiropractic Visit

On your second visit, Dr. Stiles will review her initial findings, and re-evaluate your current condition, answering any questions you may have. Next we will explain and demonstrate the difference between how a normal and abnormal spine and nervous system function. She will relate this information to your condition while reviewing your x-ray findings. Dr. Stiles will then describe her chiropractic treatment recommendations. This is when you will receive your first chiropractic adjustment after which we will schedule any follow up appointments that Dr. Stiles recommends.

Chiropractic Patient Education

Education is a pivotal part of your care. All of our new patients attend a workshop designed to educate on proper care of the spine, and how to live healthier, happier lives. Additionally, as we treat our patients we focus on educating them on nutrition, stretching, healthy sleeping habits, etc. that will help patients to get and stay well
