Many of the patients we treat come to us seeking relief from hip pain. Hip pain can be caused by many factors, and the good news is that chiropractic can help! Here is what you need to know:

SPRAINS, STRAINS, AND FRACTURES

When you are experiencing any type of pain, the first thought you probably have is whether or not you injured yourself. Sprains to the ligaments around the joints, fractures in the leg bones, and added strain to the muscles that surround the low back are all common causes of hip pain. Any sprains or strains to the knees, ankles, or lower back can also lead to hip pain.

OSTEOARTHRITIS

Injuries aren’t the only cause of hip pain. Osteoarthritis, which is a type of arthritis that occurs when flexible tissue at the ends of bones wears down, usually shows itself through joint pain. It is caused by the wear and tear your body goes through over time. People who struggle with weight issues are more likely to suffer from osteoarthritis due to added stress on the joints.

UNEVEN LEGS

We’ve heard many claims from patients that one of their legs is longer than the other. Usually that’s not the case, but misalignments can cause one leg to function as if it is shorter than the other. That leads to hip (and other) pain, and can be corrected with chiropractic treatments.

SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION

The sacroiliac joint, located at the base of your spine, is where your pelvis and sacrum meet. Proper alignment of the spine is directly related to this joint, and if it is misaligned, it can lead to intense low back and hip pain.

PAIN RELIEF STEROIDS

When it comes to long-term pain relief, there are several recommended steroids. One of the side effects of long-term use can be joint degeneration. Steroids can also reduce your body’s ability to absorb calcium, leading to an increased risk of osteoporosis.

Chiropractic Treatment
