You've probably been there before...suffering from the throbbing, pounding pain of a headache. You might grab the Tylenol, turn off the light, and miss out on a fun day you had planned or go to bed early hoping you will wake up without a headache in the morning. Severe headaches can negatively impact your life, and pain relievers don't get to the root of the problem.

You might have even been prescribed something stronger than your average over-the-counter pain reliever. Maybe you've had blood work done to try to determine what is causing your headaches. But have you ever tried chiropractic?

Chiropractic Adjustments

By gently adjusting and improving the alignment of the spine and the natural curve of the neck, chiropractic can help relieve pain caused by headaches. Additionally, chiropractic care encourages better movement of the bones of the spine. When these two factors occur, the nerves that exit the spine and control your muscles fire more efficiently and effectively. This allows normal muscle tone to return, and spasms you may have been experiencing before an adjustment will start to relax. Those spasms might seem unrelated, but they actually refer pain to your head, causing a trigger point. A trigger point can happen anywhere in the body, and it is a knot in the muscles that refers pain to other places. Tension headache pain is commonly a result of trigger points in the neck, upper back, and shoulders.

Chiropractic Care and Headache Relief

During a consultation at our practice, we will do a thorough evaluation to determine what exactly is the cause of your headaches. We will not only explain our findings, but also create a treatment plan custom to your needs. Recommended care will vary based on your specific issues, but within a few weeks of consistent care, you should start to notice a difference.

Chiropractic care is an excellent form of treatment to detect and correct migraines and headaches because as chiropractors, we focus on the nervous system. There may be other factors that contribute to your headaches, such as other health conditions, family history, diet, dehydration, lack of sleep, or even using the wrong pillow! By making changes to some areas of your life, you can help to relieve your headache pain.

Making positive changes in your life and regular chiropractic adjustments will have you on the right track to feeling great. If you are suffering from headaches and are looking to solve the problem, not just cover the symptoms, give us a call for a consultation!
